Create Chaos First to Create Beauty Later. Embrace the mess.
Embrace the Mess
What started as a casual game night with friends turned into something completely different… and kind of amazing.
Girls’ craft night. Pipe cleaners. No plan.
I jumped in without a clue what I was making—didn’t even bother to look anything up—and ended up with a very questionable little sculpture. 😅
Lesson learned: sometimes, if you don’t know what you’re doing, it really helps to plan ahead.
But also? That little craft night mess reminded me of something bigger:
Creativity is chaos. And that’s okay.
My car’s a total disaster right now, filled with supplies and donations for Transform Youth & Family Counseling. But it’s beautiful chaos. Because when you’re creating, giving, building, or trying something new—you’re going to make a mess. And you’re probably going to get it “wrong” at least once.
That’s how you figure it out. That’s how you grow.
Sometimes you have to fail to learn how to do it differently next time. And that applies to more than crafts. It applies to everything.
So here’s your reminder: don’t wait for perfect conditions. Make the mess. Try the thing. Be okay with not getting it right the first time.
Start anyway.
And while I’m at it, shoutout to The Oregon Creators Network—a community that encourages creativity in all its forms. I’ve been so inspired by the variety of talent, resources, and support shared there lately. If you’re local and creative, come hang out.
